Robert Eccles, PhD

World renown leader, scholar and researcher in ESG investing, reporting and integration

Robert G. Eccles is a Visiting Professor of Management Practice at the Said Business School, University of Oxford as well as a Visiting Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management and was a Professor at Harvard Business School. Bob is Chairman of KKS Advisors, is a member of the board of TruValue Labs and a member of the board of the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets at the Stockholm School of Economics.

He was the founding Chairman of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and one of the founders of the International Integrated Reporting Council. Bob was selected as one of the Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behavior and was named Honorary Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Dr. Eccles received an S.B. in Mathematics and an S.B. in Humanities and Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an A.M. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University.

Timothy Youmans

Tim Youmans is a director at EOS at Federated Hermes and leads its North America efforts. Previously he was research director for the Strategic Investor Initiative at CECP – The CEO Force for Good. Tim has been a research scholar at Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School’s Family Office Program. He continues to work closely with Oxford Said Business School professor Robert G Eccles. Their research on Materiality in Corporate Governance: The Statement of Significant Audiences and Materiality and on other topics has, among many other publications, featured in the MIT Sloan Management Review, Forbes, the Economist, the Financial Times, Harvard Business School Working Knowledge, the Guardian and the American Bar Association. Tim has a Masters in Public Administration, is a Lucius N Littauer Fellow from the Harvard Kennedy School and a research fellow of the British Academy’s Future Corporation Initiative. He spent 25 years in business running his own consulting firms, as executive vice president of a venture-funded start-up and running a large family office. 

He received an MBA from the University of Southern Maine and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy. He was retired from the Coast Guard after serving both afloat and ashore in Alaska, Washington DC and Maine, and is a service-disabled military veteran.

Sacha Sadan

Sacha Sadan is Director of Investment Stewardship and on the board at LGIM, one of the world’s largest asset managers. In September 2016 he was recognised in the Financial Times as one of ‘the 30 most influential people in the City of London’, crediting him as one the leading architects of 2012’s “shareholder spring”. At LGIM Sacha has responsibility for investment stewardship, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas, collaborating with other investors as well as governments and regulators. He regularly speaks at major global industry events on topics such as diversity, climate change and shareholder rights. Sacha was previously a senior UK equity manager at Gartmore where he co-managed a range of UK equity hedge, retail and institutional funds. He was voted the top-rated Pan European fund manager in the Thomson Reuters Extel awards (known as the “City Oscars”) in 2010.  He started his career at Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

Sacha holds a BA (Econ) from Manchester University and is a Fellow of ICSA. Sacha is a founding member and still on the board of the UK Investor Forum.

Jeroen Bos, CFA, CAIA

Jeroen Bos, CFA, CAIA is Head of Specialised Equity & Responsible Investing at NN Investment Partners (NN IP) and part of its Management Team Investments. His portfolio of responsibilities includes a variety of Global and Regional Sustainable & Impact Equity Funds, as well as a range of Global & European Equity funds. Jeroen is also a member of NN IP’s ESG Board and has been instrumental in the development of ESG integration at NNIP in the last decade. His previous roles at NN IP included Head of Global Equity Research as well as Senior Portfolio Manager on several Global Equity & Thematic Funds. Before joining NN IP, Jeroen was a Director at UBS in New York in the Technology Equity Research Team. Prior to UBS, he was a Vice President at JP Morgan in London and a Senior Equity Analyst at MeesPierson/Fortis in Amsterdam. Jeroen is also a Board Member of CFA Society VBA Netherlands as well as a Board Member of the Work with Nature Foundation, a non-profit organization protecting Costa Rica’s rainforest.

Witold J. Henisz

Witold J. Henisz is the Deloitte & Touche Professor of Management in Honor of Russell E. Palmer, former Managing Partner at The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. His research examines the impact of political hazards on international investment strategy including efforts by multinational corporations to engage in corporate diplomacy to win the hearts and minds of external stakeholders. His research has been published in top-ranked journals in international business, management, international studies and sociology and he is the author of the book “Corporate Diplomacy: Building Reputations and Relationships with External Stakeholders”.

Witold has won multiple teaching awards at the graduate and undergraduate levels and also teaches extensively on the topic of Corporate Diplomacy in open enrollment and custom executive education programs. He served as the academic co-Director in the development of the stakeholder engagement KEROVKA crisis management simulation. He is currently a principal in the political risk management consultancy PRIMA LLC whose recent clients include AngloGold Ashanti, Rio Tinto, Lockheed Martin, Shell Corporation, Dundee Precious Metals, Calvert (Eaton Vance), EY, The World Bank, The Inter-American Development Bank and the International Finance Corporation.

Luisa Florez

Luisa Florez has 13 years of experience in the asset management industry.   She began her career in 2005 as a SRI analyst at Vigeo, a European social and environmental rating agency. She then joined Groupama Asset Management in 2008 as an extra-financial analyst. She moved on to become head of ESG fundamental research at AXA Investment Managers from 2012 to 2017. In these roles, Luisa accompanied investors in their aim of ESG integration and in constructing sustainable and long term solutions. She joined LBPAM in 2017 as Head of SRI Research within the SRI Research & Investment team.  

Luisa earned a Bachelor in Finance and a Master in Finance and Strategy from Sciences Po Paris.

Dave Young

Managing Director & Senior Partner

Dave Young is a Managing Director & Senior Partner in the Boston office of BCG. He is the global topic leader for the firm’s work on Total Societal Impact and Sustainability, which focuses on helping companies, investors, governments, and social mission organizations create more environmental and societal impact, at scale, more quickly, in ways that reinforce value creation. Dave is Fellow of the BCG Henderson Institute, working on the role of the corporation in society and sustainable business model innovation. He is the author of Winning in the 20’s: Optimize for Both Social and Business Value; The Quest for Sustainable Business Model Innovation; and Total Societal Impact, A New Lens on Strategy.

During a decade away from BCG, Dave was the Global COO for World Vision International, the world’s largest field-based NGO. He was responsible for the performance of its field, technical, and support organizations encompassing 41,000 staff in over 80 countries, executing programs reaching 150 million of the world’s most vulnerable children. Dave is on the board of KickStart International; he also co-chairs the Executive Board of the UN’s Connecting Business initiative, which catalyzes business networks in 20 countries for disaster preparedness, humanitarian response, and recovery.

Katie Schmitz Eulitt

Katie Schmitz Eulitt has worked with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) since its inception. She now serves on SASB’s Capital Markets Policy and Outreach team, cultivating the use of SASB standards in investment decisions. Katie co-manages SASB’s Investor Advisory Group, comprising 55 leading global asset owners and managers – with over $41 Trillion in assets – supporting a market standard for the communication of corporate performance on financially-material ESG issues to investors. She also curates and edits ESG Integration Insights, SASB’s ongoing series of investor-written case studies examining the use of SASB tools across asset classes, markets, and investment strategies.

Katie worked with investment bank Salomon Brothers for over a decade in the US, Japan, and Hong Kong. Her experience in project development and finance spans the energy sector (both fossil fuels and renewables), the protection of forested lands, and water disinfection in developing markets.

Shafiq Ebrahim

Shafiq Ebrahim joined BCI in August 2015 and currently leads the Quantitative Equity team, which is responsible for the management of Global, Global ESG, and Canadian mandates. With $171.3 billion of managed assets as of March 31, 2020, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets.

Shafiq has more than 21 years of experience in the investment and finance industry. Prior to joining BCI, he was a partner and head of research at AJO, a quantitative institutional investment manager based in Philadelphia. From 2004 to 2009, he was a senior researcher at State Street Associates, a partnership between State Street Global Markets and academia. 

Prior to that, he worked at Financial Engines, an independent investment advisor founded by Bill Sharpe. Shafiq began his career at the Bank of Canada. Shafiq earned a B.A. (Hons.) in economics from the University of British Columbia, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Queen’s University. He is a CFA charterholder and holds the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designations.

Stefano Maffina

Stefano Maffina s a Senior ESG Research and Data Analyst at State Street Global Advisors. His responsibilities include creating and maintaining SSGA’s ESG Architecture, building ESG-aligned quantitative models and investable solutions, leading SRI research projects and writing sustainability-focused papers and thought pieces. Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors in 2017, Mr. Maffina was a Research Associate at Calvert Investments and Calvert Research and Management. He also worked for the sustainability advocacy NGO Ceres, was employed by Tessolar, a renewable energy startup located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was a market and industry analyst for a multinational chemical company in Europe.

Stefano earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a MA from the University of Verona.

Richard Webley

Richard has 24 years of financial industry experience and is the head of Citi Global Data Insights, within the Institutional Clients Group (ICG).  Citi Global Data Insights (CGDI) is a business unit focused on developing Data & Analytics products for Institutional clients of Citigroup. CGDI offers data products via a proprietary data marketplace and on a bespoke consulting basis.  Prior to leading GGDI Richard was Americas Head of Business Advisory Services (BAS), the strategic consulting team within Global Investor Sales.  

Richard began his career in 1995 at JP Morgan in the Investment Bank and held various roles in operations & technology before joining the specialist capital markets consulting company m.a.partner in 2001. As a partner in the US practice he worked with a wide variety of the Investment Banks and Hedge Funds across the spectrum of operations and technology business consulting, including business strategy, market research, organizational design, operations & technology architecture, and vendor outsourcing. When Detica Consulting acquired m.a.partners in 2007 Richard ran the US financial services consulting practice before joining Citi in 2009 to run strategy & planning for the US Broker-Dealer before joining Business Advisory Services in 2010. 

Richard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from East London University and attended Harvard Business School’s Leading Professional Services Firms course in 2008.

Anne Simpson

Anne Simpson joined CalPERS in 2009 and was named interim managing investment director for Board Governance & Sustainability in June 2020.

She is responsible for strategic initiatives across the Fund. These include Climate Action 100+ (a global investor alliance of $40 trillion driving business action on climate change), the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance, and the UN Secretary General’s Global Investors for Sustainable Development. Specific programs within investments include the Emerging Manager Program and the sustainable investment strategic plan.

In 2019 she was named by Time Magazine as one of the 15 women leading the global fight on climate change and in 2020 one of the 100 Most Influential Women in US Finance by Barron’s (Dow Jones). For 10 consecutive years from 2010-20 Anne has been ranked by the National Association of Corporate Directors as one of the year’s 100 most influential people in the boardroom.

She serves on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Investor Advisory Committee, as well as the Senior Advisory Board at the Center for Responsible Business at Haas, University of California at Berkley. She also serves on the Leadership Council of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. Anne is an editorial board member of the journal “Directors & Boards.”

Anne has published several books in the field of Board Governance and Sustainability including “The Financial Ecosystem: The Role of Finance in Achieving Sustainability” with Satyajit Bose and Dong Guo of Columbia University; “Fair Shares: the Future of Shareholder Power and Responsibility” with Jonathan Charkham; and “The Greening of Global Investment: How the Environment, Ethics and Politics Are Reshaping Strategies.”

Previous roles included senior faculty fellow and lecturer at the Yale School of Management, head of the Global Corporate Governance Forum at the World Bank, executive director of the International Corporate Governance Network, and joint managing director of Pensions & Investment Research Consultants Ltd.

Anne graduated from Oxford University in the United Kingdom, where she read philosophy, politics and economics and was awarded bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was a Slater Fellow at Wellesley College, Massachusetts.

John Streur

John Streur is President and Chief Executive Officer of Calvert Research and Management, an investment management firm that specializes in responsible and sustainable investing across global capital markets. Calvert serves all types of investors through its family of mutual funds and separate accounts. Mr. Streur is also President and a Trustee/Director of the Calvert Funds and a Director of Calvert Foundation and member of its Risk Oversight Committee.

Since joining Calvert as CEO in 2015, Mr. Streur has restructured Calvert with focus on investment research and emphasis on environmental, social and governance factors integrated with investment decisions. He has guided the creation of the Calvert Principles for Responsible Investing and the Calvert Research System, as well as the development of the Calvert Responsible Investment Index Funds.

Mr. Streur began to focus his energy exclusively on responsible and sustainable investing in 2012, as President, Director and Principal of Portfolio 21, a boutique investment management firm specializing in global environmental investing. Previously, he spent 20 years at Managers Investment Group LLC (and its predecessor), a firm he co-founded and where he served as President, CEO and Chair of the Investment Committee. He was also President and Trustee of the firm’s fund family, Managers Funds and Managers AMG Funds. Managers Investment Group LLC grew to over $30 billion in assets under management and offered investment strategies across global equity, debt and derivative markets. Mr. Streur has managed socially responsible investments at the request of institutional clients, including public funds, religious institutions, and college and university endowments since 1991.

Mr. Streur is a founding member of the Investor Advisory Group for the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB), a group of leading asset owners and asset managers committed to improving the quality and comparability of sustainability related disclosure by corporations for use by investors. He is also a member of Merck’s External Sustainability Advisory Council. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin; Bachelor of Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Kimberly Strand, CFA

Kim Strand is a VP, portfolio manager and research analyst for Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions. She is a co-manager of the Franklin Income Fund and related portfolios, specializing in equities. She is a member of the FTIS Investment Strategy & Research Committee.

Kim joined Franklin Templeton in July 2005.

Prior to her current role, Kim was a research analyst and portfolio manager for the Franklin Equity Group, serving on the Industrials team. She was a principal on the Franklin Blackhorse venture fund from 2017-2019, co-manager of the Franklin Focused Core Equity Fund from 2015-2017 and co-manager of the Franklin Equity Income Fund from 2013-2015.

Kim holds an M.B.A from The Wharton School and a B.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.

Margot Brandenburg

Margot Brandenburg is a senior program officer on the foundation’s Mission Investments team, focused on building and strengthening the infrastructure of the impact investment market—with an eye to shaping the broader capital markets. She has spent two decades working at the intersection of philanthropy, capital markets, and social and environmental justice.

Prior to joining Ford, Margot served as founder and CEO of MyStrongHome, a benefit corporation delivering resilience finance services to homeowners across the Southeast and Gulf Coast of the US. Before that, she helped design and lead the impact investing initiative at the Rockefeller Foundation. She co-authored the book The Power of Impact Investing with former RF president Judith Rodin. While at Rockefeller, she also focused on job creation and issues of economic security for low-wage workers.

Margot began her career in international microfinance and has worked with several community development finance institutions in the US. She serves on the boards of the Workers Lab, Brooklyn Cooperative Credit Union, and the Woodcock Foundation, and as an adviser to the National Domestic Workers Alliance as well as the National Energy Improvement Fund.

She received a master’s in public affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University.

Degas Wright, CFA

Degas Wright, CFA is founder – principal of Decatur Capital Management. He developed the investment strategy and the integration of environment, social, and governance (ESG) analysis in the firm’s U.S. and international equity portfolios.  Decatur Capital Management is a signatory to the United Nations supported Principles for Responsible Investment.  In 2019, Degas testified in support of the U.S. House of Representatives legislation for material ESG disclosures for public companies.   In 2020, Degas became a CNBC commentator discussing capital markets. Prior to Decatur Capital Management, he served as Corporate Treasurer for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) managing its reserve funds and serving as a member of its pension committee.

Degas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and a Master of Science degree in Economics from University of Texas at El Paso, Texas. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army.  Degas holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. In addition, he serves on several nonprofit boards.

Xavier Desmadryl

Xavier Desmadryl is the Global Head of ESG Research since 2007 and also acts as PRI coordinator since 2008. He was appointed SRI analyst at the beginning of February 2003. He joined the HSBC Group in April 1999. Before that, he held various banking and asset management positions within companies like CDC (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations), Crédit Agricole and Banque Paribas where he started his career in 1989. He is active in many ESG/SRI initiatives like the UNEP FI (United Nations Environmental Program Finance Initiative) where he served as co-chairman of the Asset Management Working Group between 2006 and 2009. In 2005 he contributed to the international experts panel in charge of defining the PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment). He is also involved in the IIGCC (Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change).

Xavier holds a Master’s degree from French business school ESLSCA where he specialised in corporate finance. He is a Certified European Financial Analyst since 2005.

Allison Walsh, CFA

Senior Vice President, 17 years of experience

Allison joined IR+M in 2016 as a Client Portfolio Manager and was named the Head of ESG and Corporate Sustainability in September 2020.  In her current role, Allison is responsible for the firm’s ESG integration, strategy implementation, and thought leadership, as well as oversees our sustainability initiatives.  Allison is the co-chairperson of our ESG Committee and chairperson of our Sustainability Committee.    Prior to joining IR+M, Allison was the Director of Portfolio Management at Sun Life Financial.   

Allison has a BA in Political Science from College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from Boston University.

Previously, Bhakti was Managing Director at FCLTGlobal, ESG Advisor to Corbin Capital, an investment management strategist at One William Street Capital Management and Lehman Brothers, and a sustainable finance banker at Barclays Capital and Unitus Capital. She also spent 10 years pioneering microinsurance, microfinance CLOs, and micropensions.

Bhakti teaches an impact finance class that she developed from scratch in Columbia’s Masters in Sustainability Management Program, writes monthly sustainable investing articles via Forbes.com, serves on the Board of Commissioners for the New York State Insurance Fund, and is a life member at the Council on Foreign Relations. Vijay Advani is Executive Chairman of Nuveen, the investment manager of TIAA.

He is responsible for Nuveen’s overall strategy and growth with a focus on three key initiatives of the firm: impact and ESG investing; the further development of Nuveen Labs; and growing Nuveen’s business and investment capabilities outside of the U.S. Vijay was CEO of Nuveen from 2017-2020, and had day-to-day responsibility for the firm.

Before joining the firm in 2017, Vijay was Co-President of Franklin Templeton Investments, where in a career of more than 20 years, he was responsible for long-term strategic initiatives and the firm’s investment management, trading and global retail and institutional channels. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Vijay spent 11 years at the World Bank advising governments on developing their financial markets and arranging equity, quasi-equity and debt financing.

Vijay is a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute (ICI). Will Oulton

Will Oulton is the Global Head, Responsible Investment at First State Investments (FSI) based in the UK and is responsible for defining and delivering FSI’s responsible investment and stewardship strategy globally.  In this role he is tasked with advancing FSI’s understanding of how ESG Factors impact long-term investment value.  He is also responsible for developing FSI’s thought leadership programs and managing the RI Governance structure for the business.

Previous to this he was the Head of Responsible Investment for Mercer Investments across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, advising institutional asset owners on environmental, social and corporate governance matters.

He has nearly 20 years of experience working in sustainable and responsible investment. Before joining Mercer, Will was the Director of Responsible Investment at FTSE Group, where he led the development of FTSE’s global sustainability services. 

In December 2015 he was appointed president of the European Sustainable Investment Forum (Eurosif). He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an Honorary Associate Professor at Nottingham University Business School’s International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, Expert Panel Member of the Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability program and sits on a number of investment industry advisory boards and committees. More recently, he became a Trustee Director on the board of the UK’s Marine Conservation Society.

Mahesh Jayakumar, CFA, FRM

Mahesh Jayakumar, CFA, FRM, is a Fixed Income research analyst focusing on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues at MFS Investment Management® (MFS®). In this role, he is responsible for identifying the most attractive investment opportunities in his assigned universe and works closely with portfolio managers to ensure ideas are properly positioned within portfolios. At MFS, he is also a member of the Sustainability Working Group, which is responsible for guiding the firm-wide ESG investment strategy and assessing global collaborative initiatives and partnerships. Mahesh joined MFS in early 2019 following his tenure as a Senior Portfolio Manager in the Beta Solutions business at OppenheimerFunds. 

He was previously with State Street Bank for a decade culminating in his role as a Senior ESG Investment Strategist at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA). Other positions there included; Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager in the Global Fixed Income, Cash and Currency team, where he managed portfolios in sectors such as Global Sovereigns and Agencies, US Investment Grade Credit, and Green Bonds. Mahesh holds an M.B.A. from the MIT Sloan School of Management, an M.S. in Computer Science from Boston University and a B.S. in Information Systems from Purdue University. Asha Mehta, CFA

Early in her career, she conducted microfinance lending in India. Nikki Gwilliam-Beeharee is Director of ESG Research for Invesco. In this role she leads Invesco’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) research and engagement agenda. Nikki joined Invesco in April 2019 following nine years at Vigeo Eiris. Nikki started her career as a Food and Health ESG analyst before managing the ESG research team and supporting asset managers with ESG solutions in her previous role as Director of Research at Vigeo Eiris.

She is a venture partner to Aera, a venture fund investing in high growth early-stage ventures defined by both purpose and profit, and an advisor for NYU Summer Launchpad for graduating student entrepreneurs and an advisor to TechStars Food to Fork Incubator.
